What Shall We Do With Jesus?
It has been more than 2000 years since Jesus Christ gave His life on
Calvary for the sins of mankind? What impact did He, His message and His
ministry make on the world then and how does mankind deal with it today? Over
the centuries since that prophecy was fulfilled, has man truly grasped the
significance of that event. How has it changed our lives? The Old Testament
predicted the coming Savior, the Messiah, the Redeemer who was to rescue
mankind from the bondage of sin and Satan, and the New Testament fulfilled that
act of love through Jesus Christ. Since the day man walked out of his
sinless life in the Garden of Eden and into the reality of self-love, of
disobedience, what have we done with Jesus? Do we really understand who
Christ is, why He came and His incredible love for mankind? There is a
desperate need in society today to understand more fully the beauty of His
holiness, His righteousness and the true ugliness of sin!
In today’s morally decaying society, what shall we do with Jesus?
Where do we place God in the value system of our busy life? As the book
of Revelation indicates, this world will end with a mighty battle as the forces
of good and evil vie for supremacy. On which side have we placed our trust?
Mankind plods along seemingly oblivious to the prophetic words of coming
tribulation and judgment when a total upheaval in life as we now know it will
abruptly change our destiny. If we continue to sow the wind, we will finally
reap the whirlwind of our defiance (Hosea 8:7). The coming day of the
Lord fast approaches when the trumpets will sound, the final seals will open and
the vials of God’s promised wrath will begin to pour out on a
self-willed, godless society. Satan, the ultimate anti-christ has prepared long
and hard for this great time of deception, have we? Have we sat at the feet of
the Master, Jesus Christ, soaking up every bit of truth that the Spirit
opens to our searching hearts or are we fearfully and desperately bankrupt as we
forge into this great spiritual battle.
Today, as in the days of Noah, mankind scoffs and places little thought on
our deplorable, sinful condition. Our hearts do not ache and sigh as we behold
the deeds of unrighteousness that plague this earth. Our hearts have grown cold,
and we no longer feel the danger or sense the intense foreboding as mankind
sinks ever faster into the depths of complacency and unconcern. We have stopped
our ears to the voice of God as he cries out in everlasting love to His
wayward children “why will you die, why do you forsake me. Turn, turn from your
wicked ways and live” (Ezekiel 18:31,32). Only as we prepare earnestly
today, seeking diligently to walk in the footsteps of our Lord, will we be
able to stand steadfast in that fearful day when we must face the blinding
deceptions of the anti-christ and the scarlet woman, the harlot who rides the
beast. She is drunk with the blood of the saints, those faithful servant who
have clothed themselves with the righteousness of Jesus Christ and who
keep His commandments, His law versus the devised laws of a
faithless and self-absorbed society (Revelation 14:12). The battle lines are
drawn and the war escalates towards that final choice of the seal of God
or the mark of the beast. Where will you stand?
As we delve deeper into the upcoming prophetic events that will rock the very
foundation of a “civilized”world, bringing it to its knees with cries of
confusion and terror, we must see our need of preparation, commitment and a
relationship with Jesus Christ. What will we do with Jesus
who has for so long called with pity and tender mercy to His children who have
rejected His pleas and refused to hear His voice? Will He finally withdraw His
Spirit from the face of a deadened world who has chosen the wide gate that leads
to eternal destruction (Matthew 7:13)? Man has for so long rejected
Christ’s message of salvation, preferring to cover his sins with a false
concept of God’s unfailing love and mercy. We refuse His holiness
and use our humanity as an excuse for continual sin, hoping that God has
looked the other way and will welcome us home in our unrepentant, pitiful
condition. We profess Christianity, life in Christ, but fail to fully
practice it, finding ways to justify, excuse or lessen our responsibility to
God. How long will we halt between two opinions? If the Lord be God,
we must follow Him (1 Kings 18:21). It’s time to awake from our
slumber, from the careless attitude that binds us ever tighter to the workings
of Satan and the doom of a dying world. The signs of the times speak loud and
clear, the coming of the Lord is very near, even at the door, and if our hearts
are bound to our Savior with the scarlet thread of redemption, no weapon forged
against us by the power of Satan will prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
The time grows perilously short to prepare for the coming calamity. Satan’s
attempts to disillusion, deceive and deaden our hearts to the truth has met with
great success. Even within the church there is great apathy to the intense
spiritual battle that looms ominously on the horizon between truth and error. A
time of tribulation like none other, it is the final test of faith for God’s
children, the church. Are we prepared to discern the genuine from the
counterfeit, taking a bold stand for faith in Jesus?
