The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me;
because the LORD hath anointed me
to preach good tidings unto the meek;

he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

The need for the Gospel?

How important is the Gospel in our society today? God is dead, no prayer allowed, the Ten Commandments are null and void, and man through his own inner strength can conquer all seems to be the rule. In looking at the results of man’s desire to remove any knowledge of God from his mind, what do we see? Violence, crime, hate, abuse, dishonesty, immorality, and apathy. We suffer on blinded to our only source of strength and hope. Sin has separated us from God (Isaiah 59:2) and leaves us empty. Mankind is groaning under the weight of this godless attitude, stressed almost beyond endurance. Is there an answer to the darkness and despair that pervades a dying world.? As we see ourselves wandering through life in hopeless abandon to the love of God and the good news of the Gospel, will we turn our hearts to receive it before its too late? What is this good news, this Gospel, this life changing message that mankind needs so desperately?

What is the Gospel ?

The Gospel....just words, laws and rules or something more? To see and understand the Gospel in just one Bible verse study John 3:16... For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. So much wrapped up in this one verse.....love, sacrifice, hope, self-denial, promise, forgiveness, salvation and eternal life. What more could God have done for His creation? This is the everlasting Gospel that restores mankind to his relationship with the God...The Cross! Until we see the love of God and the Cross, we will not understand the Gospel. We can read the Bible from cover to cover, memorize important texts and keep the law, but if we have not found the Savior, if we have not found salvation through His sacrifice, we have missed the Gospel.

If our hearts have not been touched by His love and our need for Him, then we have missed the Gospel message. The Gospel is a message of faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love (1 Corinthians 13:13). Love for God and love for our fellowman (Matthew 22:37-40). This is the essence of who God is... LOVE! How many will hear and accept this Gospel message and find peace and eternal life in Jesus Christ. Will you?
