The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me;
because the LORD hath anointed me
to preach good tidings unto the meek;

he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

Isaiah 61: 1

One Nation Under God

America, the land of liberty, freedom and justice for all. The land of opportunity where every man, woman and child is free to pursue his dreams and ambitions unfettered by the burden and persecution of a suppressive government. The American flag represents a world power that has based its freedoms on a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Those stars and stripes wave proudly as a symbol of independence gained at the cost of many lives and much sacrifice. We are a nation who based their battle for separation on religious freedom and a strong solid belief in God and His law as the sure foundation for its strength and success. Our founding fathers, guided by faith and belief in Almighty God, braved many a hard battle to win for us the right to the freedoms that we hold so dear today.

How far have we as a nation removed ourselves from our moral and spiritual foundation? Can pride in the heritage of this nation still exist when we ban prayer in school, remove the Ten Commandments from public display, allow 4000 abortions per day, justify same sex marriages, promote the gay agenda and turn our head in silence as Hollywood infiltrates our families with filth and smut that rots the very fiber of a moral society? Has our cry against such evil gone silent, allowing the ungodly, liberal agenda to control our conscience. How can Christians and those who long for a decent society in which to rear their children, turn deaf ears and blind eyes to the tragedies that plague this nation. Have our hearts grown cold as we constantly deal with abused, abandoned and aborted children in numbers too grotesque to mention, crime, murder, rape and violence that runs rampant until we have become desensitized to the problem and weary in finding an answer to bring it under control. Is there an answer?

We are a country in trouble, deep trouble! As federal, state and local governments continue their slide to the side of immorality, where will we turn? As our religious freedoms slowly take a back seat to secular demands, the foundation upon which this country was founded continues to erode. A people whose moral fiber was once based upon the The Word of God has now rested their hopes and faith in the wisdom of man, and will soon reap the whirlwind of their choice. God has been merciful and long-suffering with this nation, bearing long with our iniquities, but soon, very soon, the mighty hand of God will stay the haughty attitude of this perverse nation. Our cup of iniquity is full to overflowing, and a righteous God must reign His judgments on a defiant people to bring the terror of sin to an end. Our desire to indulge our own selfish and sinful habits will finally be our undoing. God will leave us to our sin, and as he removes His hand of protection from those who have for so long rejected His pleas of mercy, we will now be at the mercy of Satan, whose desire to destroy mankind will know no bounds. Before that awesome time of judgment and retribution will this nation seek to return to its godly foundation?

What is needed in our homes, our churches and our nation is a revival, a revival of true godliness based on biblical principles, the foundation on which this country was founded. As we celebrate our freedom, our independence as a nation, are we truly free, truly liberated or bound by an evil taskmaster that has brought ruin and devastation upon a once glorious nation? Satan works deceitfully and treacherously with a sin-sick society, seducing mankind with every imaginable allurement, gaining strength at every surrender to his will and desiring complete mastery in our life. But, no man can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one, and love the other, or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (Matthew 6:24) Satan has been in control too long. It’s time to take back our families, our nation and our heritage as children of God! It’s time to humble our selves before His mighty throne with repentance, confession and humiliation. It’s time to turn the tide of this nation back to our roots, back to our foundation of faith, trust and total commitment to the ways of the Lord. Will we allow the future of our children to be destroyed by a nation who has turned its back on God? The journey toward a renewal of our Christian heritage is long and hard, and we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12). Therefore, we must use the mighty weapons of warfare that God has placed at our disposal, for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4,5). The judgment upon this wicked nation is about to fall, and it will first begin with us, the house of God (1 Peter 4:17). It’s time to examine who we are and whom we serve. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness (Romans 6:16)? It is time to celebrate our freedom in Christ. It’s time to stand up and be counted and turn our hearts, our nation, our people toward home!
