The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me;
because the LORD hath anointed me
to preach good tidings unto the meek;

he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

Let Your Light Shine

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Beneath the spiraling moral decay that blankets this lost and dying world, beats the heart of the evil one, the prince of darkness. Into this thick fog of apathy and unrest shines the light of Jesus Christ to dispel the darkness and awaken mankind from his spiritual slumber to the glory of the Lord (Isaiah 60:1). For so long we have rested in the security of our Laodecian attitude that we no longer feel our need for dependence upon God. With a spirit of arrogance and blatant defiance, man has rejected God and His plan of salvation. That true light that lights every man that comes into the world has almost been extinguished in the hearts of a careless and complacent society. Obedience and faithfulness to God, as well as love and concern for our fellowman, languishes in a world blinded by the corruption of sin.

Today, as in ages past, God desires to reveal Himself to the world through His people, the church, but what do we offer a world that is deeply ensnared by the lies and deceptions of Satan? How have we reached this self-absorbed generation with the love of God and the hope salvation? Christ came as the light of the world, bringing hope and healing to a people held captive to the workings of Satan. God desires that through His children this glorious light will continue to shine, but Satan's goal has always been to remove the light of God’s glory from the heart of man, leaving him to the result of his darkness and despair. Thus continues the great controversy that has raged for 6000 years over the souls of mankind.

As ambassadors for the heavenly kingdom, does our light flicker dimly, suppressed by the whispers of Satan to conform to the ways of the world? Does our life reflect the image of our creator in word, deed and action, touching the lives of those that He has placed within the sphere of our influence with the true essence of Christianity.....Christ in us the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27)? As the world sinks deeper and deeper into the traps of Satan's deceptions, do we feel the urgent need to reach the world with the good news of the gospel? It is high time that we awake out of our slumber and recognize the evil that threatens to destroy us. The voices of concerned Christians must cry out with boldness against the lukewarmness that holds us fast to the service of Satan and robs God of His glory. With faithful testimony and lives illuminated with the glory of the indwelling Christ, the church must ignite a fire of revival that will bring the world to its knees.

The church has been given great and precious opportunities to impact the world for Christ through the power that God has bestowed in abundance, but first we must empty ourselves of all that defiles and make ourselves ready when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord (Acts 3:19). That mighty infilling of the latter rain that will light the world with the glory of God as never before. Are we ready to take up the challenge, to finish the course, to keep the faith and defeat the attacks of Satan? The hour grows short!

The time is at hand to make ready a people to meet their God. Our Christ-like example must epitomize the life of Christ in commitment, concern and consecration. It’s time to take seriously our obligation as partakers of the heavenly calling, remaining firm unto the end and paving the way for the soon coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Hebrews 3:1,6.14).

God has given each a measure of faith and talents necessary to fulfill the work that remains undone. The world is in desperate need of the gift of God’s saving grace. Will we deny God His glory and the world its opportunity for salvation because we hide our light under a bushel?
