The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me;
because the LORD hath anointed me
to preach good tidings unto the meek;

he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

Battle of Armageddon

For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty......And He gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon. Revelation 16:14-16

Does the bible speak of such a battle? The term Armageddon first appears in the book of Revelation, describing the punishing judgments of God. These judgments come in the form of the 7 last plagues described in Revelation 16:2-17, the culmination of the great controversy between Christ and Satan, Righteousness and sin, and the Commandments of God versus the laws of man. This battle brings to a final end the history of mankind and their love affair with sin, Satan and self-gratification. God has through the long ages of history given His people every chance, every opportunity, every gift necessary to turn their hearts back to him that may obtain eternal life. This final battle of Armageddon is the final showdown of truth versus error, and all those alive at that time will have made their choice and placed their allegiance on one side or the other. It will separate friend and foe, faith and force, and is a choice all must make for their eternal destiny......The Lord or Lucifer, eternal life or eternal death.... that is the ultimate choice.

Arch-rivals since the beginning of sin, Christ and Satan now stand head to head, claiming their own, claiming their victories of souls won or lost for the kingdom of God. Satan has known since the cross that he lost his claim to this world, but he glories in the fact that he is able to draw many to defeat and destruction through his lies and deception. Christ, the creator, the Savior of all mankind, will now come to claim all those who in faith have placed their trust in Him and have been obedient to the truths set forth in His Holy Word. The dragon roars like never before, and the only way to defeat this mighty foe is through the blood of the Lamb. It is time for radical commitment by the children of God, for the hour in which we live leaves no room for half-hearted effort. How long can we waiver between earth and heaven, life and death, between two masters? Silently and unnoticed by most of mankind, the evil forces rally, marshaled by the unseen hand of Satan. They gather their arsenal of deadly deeds designed to conquer, defeat and destroy an unsuspecting and unprepared generation. A generation who has turned their heart from God, desiring to serve self at the cost of their eternal salvation.

The fulfillment of the prophecy of Revelation 13 is fast coming to pass, and that clarion call to come out of Babylon, that false system of religion that seeks to serve self, rings loud and clear. Do we hear, will we listen. The storm clouds are gathering, the midnight hour fast approaches as this mighty spiritual battle rumbles with the electricity of coming tribulation. Satan prepares his forces for the most intense battle of human history.....the battle of Armageddon! Many of today’s biblical interpreters express their belief that we are living in the last days of earth’s history. Many have taken a literal stand on a geographic prediction of Armageddon. Thus, as we study the meaning of that great battle, a literal versus a symbolic view must be taken into consideration. Since the book of Revelation is a book of signs and symbols, and geographically there is no such place as Armageddon, “A place” called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon must represent a “situation” or a “condition” that will draw the whole world into the final battle of the great day of God Almighty. The final spiritual battle of God and His enemies. As we turn in the old testament to another mighty battle in the valley of Megiddo, that mighty confrontation on Mt Carmel as Elijah withstood the enemies of God, we may see in many ways a miniature of the great showdown to come as the Elijah’s of our day face the final crisis of the end time battle of Armageddon.

Jesus’ coming is near....even at the door! The great tribulation looms ominously on the horizon with its mighty judgments from God that will end the reign of sin. A careless, indifferent and complacent society slumbers on oblivious to the forces at work that will destroy all that we hold dear. The mighty angels of Revelation 14 are sounding their clarion call to give glory to God, to honor Him as creator , to set aside self pride and all that would come against the truth of His Holy Word. The beast, his image and his mark call forth the wrath of God. All must choose. All must then make a decision for eternal life or eternal separation from Almighty God. The day draws near, that midnight hour is upon us, and the hour glass of our life is running out! Are we fully prepared for what lies ahead?
